Hello, everyone today on Traveling Activist with your host Zachery Ramos I’m very excited to share with you all some great news. Not too long ago in December, I had sent an email on whitehouse.gov in hopes that before President Obama left office would respond to my email. I had informed him of what I am currently trying to do in spreading the knowledge of events around the world of people trying to make a real difference in it. Telling him as well about how I to want to be involved in politics to work my way up to where he stands today as the President of the United States of America and hope that by what I am doing today in my community will help me down that long road.

To be honest with you all I did not truly believe that I would get a response because it is the President after all but to my happy surprise saw an email back and the title from who it was from in bold letters said The White House. I quickly opened and read every word filling me up with joy knowing that hard work does not go unnoticed. Even though his letter back may be brief I still hope you all enjoy what he said and hope it makes you all want to go out and make a difference in either your town, your state or even your country. Big or small as long as you can envision it you can achieve it.

The White House, Washington

Dear Zachery:

I am pleased to extend my best wishes.  Each day, I am inspired by the countless young Americans who answer the call to service. We need more youth to get involved in their country to help make the world a better place for the future generations to come.

America needs young people like you who are studying hard in school, dreaming big dreams, and improving our communities.  Our country faces great challenges, but we will overcome them if we join together in common purpose. Always remember to keep working hard and, you can be that change to bring everyone together.

As America’s next generation of leaders, you hold the greatest stake in our Nation’s future and a primary role in shaping it.  Through service, you can lead the way to a brighter tomorrow. Continue working hard for someday you will be able to use everything you have learned in your future.

Sincerely,
Barack Obama

With a new leader of the free world coming in we must not forget the legacy Obama is leaving behind in the white house such as healthcare reform and the Iranian nuclear accord. Obama has also done a lot for our military while he was in office by repealing the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" ending 1990s-era restriction and formalized new policy allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military for the first time. Helped greatly increase support for veterans with so many soldiers coming home from Iraq and Iran with serious physical and mental health problems, yet facing long waits for services, increased 2010 Department of Veterans Affairs budget by 16 percent and 2011 budget by 10 percent. Also signed new GI bill offering $78 billion in tuition assistance over a decade, and provided multiple tax credits to encourage businesses to hire veterans.

Barack has also in his term also dealt with matters out of the US such as toppling Moammar Gaddafi in, March 2011, joined a coalition of European and Arab governments in military action, including air power and naval blockade, against Gaddafi regime to defend Libyan civilians and support rebel troops. Gaddafi’s forty-two-year rule ended when the dictator was overthrown and killed by rebels on October 20, 2011. No American lives were lost. Told Mubarak to go, on February 1, 2011, publicly called on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to accept reform or step down, thus weakening the dictator’s position and putting America on the right side of the Arab Spring. Mubarak ended thirty-year rule when overthrown on February 11.

President Obama will always to me be one of the greats in United States History and he will surely be missed. He will be leaving behind his many achievements in office and now happily retire and spend time with his family out of the public's eye. I hope you all enjoyed and stay tuned for next weeks interview with special guest Steve Wright. That's all from Traveling Activist with your host Zachery Ramos.
